All members will be subject to a credit summary obtained through Southwest Electric Cooperative’s online utility exchange service. A member’s security deposit will be determined based on information obtained from the credit summary, along with the usage history at the location in which service is being requested.

Fee & Deposit Information
A $20.00 Set up Fee per meter will apply to start new service. In addition, a $20.00 Connect Fee and a Deposit may also be required. A member’s security deposit will be determined based on information obtained from the credit summary, along with the usage history at the location in which service is being requested. When your account is created, you will receive an email with the total amount due on your new account, including deposit amount, if applicable.

The Availability Charge is a flat fee charged to all services to recover a portion of the costs required to make electricity available to your service 24-hourse a day. Examples of these costs include the poles, wires, transformers, equipment, personnel, offices, etc. needed to build and maintain Southwest's system. The availability charge does not include electric usage. Electric usage is billed under the Energy Charge which is any kilowatts used during the billing period multiplied bu the current per kilowatt-hour rate.

To avoid paying a deposit (based on credit check, if applicable), the cooperative has a prepaid metering program available to most members (single phase, non-demand members with up to a 200 AMP service). Prepaid accounts require a set up fee of $20.00, a connect fee of $20.00, and a minimum of $60.00 for daily usage ($100.00 minimum total) for initial service.  No deposit is required.

Alerts
Prepaid accounts bill each day so no paper bills are mailed out. To monitor your electric use and balance, alerts are setup (default alerts will be set up for you). These can be changed at any time on the SWEC App or Portal.
